Hailing from the enchanting Santa Clara Pueblo in New Mexico, Jacob Shije stands as a multifaceted creative force, seamlessly weaving his talents as an Indigenous musician, artist, and photographer. With roots deeply embedded in his ancestral heritage, Jacob's work exudes a powerful sense of cultural resonance and creativity.
Melding the sounds of Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and Roy Orbison, Jacob's music transcends genres, creating a unique auditory experience that bridges the past and the present. His melodies resonate with the heartbeat of his people, a testament to his unwavering connection to his roots. From soul-stirring ballads to foot-tapping rhythms, his music speaks a language of its own.

MEET THE BAND
ROYCE PLATERO
Royce has been playing drums since 7yrs old. His music journey started playing in church with his father who is a singer and guitarist.
Growing up he’s had many great influences starting with Chester Thompson, Dennis Chambers, Vinny Colaiuta, Buddy Rich, just to name a few of many great drummers he’s looked up to. Even after listening to great artists/drummers, Royce has developed his own sound of drumming and has tried to maintain his own unique style to sound like himself.
His professional career started at the age of 16 playing with top musicians in the Albuquerque area and has developed and mastered most styles of music from traditional Jazz, Smooth Jazz, R&B, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Rock n Roll, Blues, Pop, Worship and many more styles.
Royce is currently playing and touring with Levi Platero, Jacob Shije Trio, And Marco Cholo.

TANYA F. NUNEZ
Tanya F. Nunez (Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo), has a deep love of and respect for music, which she attributes to her family. As a talented upright bassist, she has appeared on stage with renowned artists and esteemed musical groups such as Lone Pinon, Lara Manzanares, Jacob Shije Trio, Margot Leverett, MESTO, Ry Bradley, Jourdan Thibodeaux, and Nacha Mendez.
Her passion for music education is evident through her teaching roles at the Young Musicians Initiative, Wheatland Music Festival, Centrum’s Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, University of Michigan, Bowling Green State University, and the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering.
Tanya's contributions in music have been acknowledged through prestigious awards such as the Parsons Fellowship and the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures Grant.
Her performances have graced renowned venues and events worldwide, including the Lincoln Center NYC, Brooklyn Folk Festival, Alaska Folk Festival, Library Of Congress, Rochester Global Music Fest, Arabic Music Festival (Abu Dhabi, UAE), Royal Opera House (Muskat, Oman) and Black Swamp Arts Festival.
